The mesmerising Northern Lights which are also known as the Aurora Borealis are a natural wonder which can be seen in the northern regions of Norway. There are a variety of factors which affect your chances of seeing the mesmerising phenomena including the weather, the moon phase and location. Hurtigruten Northern Lights cruises take guests out to sea, away from artificial lights, which improves the visibility of the Aurora Borealis. You can request to be notified if the Northern Lights appear during the night at the ship’s reception desk. The Aurora Borealis can appear in various shades of green, yellow, blue or pink and are often described as arcs or curtains of light which “dance” across the sky.
